Last 31st May Sulayr GS, leader partner of the project, organised the 1st Open Day of the LIFE rPack2L project. This event took place within the framework of the 2017 edition of the EU Green Week, the annual meeting at the EU level that offers the opportunity to debate and discuss European environmental policies. This edition was based on the theme of ‘Green jobs for a greener future’ and focused on how EU environmental policies are creating green jobs and contributing to economic, sustainable and socially responsible growth in the EU.

The project’s event involved around 30 participants, most of them entrepreneurs, policy makers and civil servants from public administration, and served to publicise the opportunities offered by the circular economy for the creation of companies and the promotion of green jobs in the county of Guadix in Grenade (Spain).

The first part of the Open Day, with the format of conference, was held at the headquarters of the Rural Development Group (RDG) of Guadix County (Grenade) and was chaired by Mr. Francisco Avilés, Town Councillor of Environment of the Municipality of Guadix, and Mr. Francisco Pleguezuelos, President of the Guadix RDG.  During this session, the attendees could listen to different presentations dealing with green economy, recycling as a business opportunity and entrepreneurship.

After that, it was organised a guided tour to the recycling plant of Sulayr GS where the participants had the opportunity to see the company’s facilities, with a current total surface of more than 40.000 m2 for storage and 4.000 m2 for production, which allows an annual recycling capacity of more than 20.000 tons.

The 1st Open Day of LIFE rPack2L was one of the parallel official events selected by the European Commission in order to promote the theme of this year’s edition.
